Water Baptism at Hobart Assembly
We are excited that you have made a decision to be baptized! Baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior. Baptism does not make us a believer, it shows that we already are one—it's the outward symbol of the commitment we made in our hearts.
Common Questions on Water Baptism
How Young is too young?
This is a question that we are often asked. We encourage parents to make sure that their children are at an age both mentally and spiritually that they properly understand what they are doing and they are seeking water baptism on their own accord. This usually happens sometime in the late elementary to middle-school years for students. For that reason, we usually like to wait until children are at least eight years old before they get baptized. It is very important that each child properly understands the significance of the event. We strongly advise each parent to speak with our Children’s Ministry Director, Koryn Cordero, if you are unsure as to your child’s readiness.
If I have been baptized before, do i need to be baptized again?
We only recommend getting water baptized again if you feel that it is important for your walk with Christ to do so. It is not uncommon for adults who make a recommitment to Christ after having an earlier baptismal experience to want to do so. Likewise, it is also common for those who were baptized as a child, but may have not properly understood the significance, to want to get baptized again as an adult. There is nothing wrong with this and may actually be quite meaningful for both you and your family and friends.
